Barcelona set to sell off older players…

Barcelona has revealed what will happen to most of their older players who fails to leave Camp Nou in the next summer transfer window.

Barcelona’s board of directors led by Mario Bartomeu are plotting to offload several senior players such as Luiz Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, Gerald Pique and Jordi Alba this summer.

The La Liga giants made the decision following their 8-2 decimation by Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter finals last Friday. According to Cadena Ser, Barcelona will impose a salary cut on any older player who did not make it out of the club this summer.

Ongoing reports reports that incoming manager, Ronald Koeman and sporting director Eric Abidal have been placed in charge of “cleaning up” the first-team squad ahead of next season.

Barcelona aims to reduce players’ wages because of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on their finances this season.

The Catalan club ended the 2019/20 without winning any trophy.
